Rare Artist Series: Madvillain - Madvillainy 2
Yep, I am one of the guys that bought the boxset of this album which came with the cassette "demo" of the original Madvillain album. Another solid work from the mind of Madlib.

Rare Artist Series: Intelligent Hoodlum - Debut Album
This Marley Marl produced album still remains one of my favorites from the early 90's. I still have it on cassette and it still gets play every now and then to bring me back to reality. Tragedy eventually changed his tune and went the thug route but I don't think it suited him too well - but that is my personal opinion. Anyhow, after about twenty years this one is still worth a listen.

Big Up (2011)
Lighters. Smoke. Action! J.O.B. originally crafted this egotistic posse cut back in 1995 even though T-Booth says it is the "9-4, niggaz!". Mysterio stepped up and revised the orignal version to showcase the three emcees rhyme skills. D-Train was on the original but for some reason his verse got lost in the hot sauce.
However, on this version T-Booth and J.O.B. recite his lyrics. Besides hearing the blowing of weed smoke into the microphone in between the off the wall verses you can hear a tri-corder. To round out the song we can hear all the emcees clowning on each other in a pure moment of them having fun making some good hip hop music.
NOTABLE QUOTES:
"It takes more to make my jaw hang/ Drop my drawers and bang - they bite but they don't stang" - Claw
"I have many rhymes and a versatile style/ But I bet you busta asses haven't heard me in a while" - T-Booth

Sweatshops (3 for the Price of One Mix)
One of the musical takes of the political song Anoir came up with way before Jedi Mind Tricks dabbled in the subject. The intro is kicked off by that crazy cat MC Dolla Sign and then Anoir, Analytical and Kwote kick the knowledge.

2009 - 2010 Universal Sounds Zip File
To start making space on the server we will be zipping up files and putting them on mediafire for download. First batch starts from the beginning of the Universal Sounds blogs and includes all mp3's from the posts made in November & December 2009 and January 2010.
Enjoy
Torture (Bloody Mix)
Mysterio chopped up this beat and made it really intense to give an update to the classic song conceived by J.O.B., Claw and E.N.S.. The samples dug up from an obscure rock record still fit in just as well as weird sound effects lifted from Halloween records. Strings and deep bass drops fill the landscape as the two emcees rip it up lovely.

Rare Artist Series: The Animals - Story of Bo Diddley
This is a cover of a Bo Diddley song about the story of Bo Diddley. Bo was ripped off many many times over the years and people continue to pay "homage" yet not many people know who the hell he was. This is one of my favorite versions of the tale - well done by the Animals.
