Plus Minus (2011 Layer Cake Remix)
Mysterio took samples from Scott Walker, Jimi Hendrix and the movie Layer Cake to craft this new version of the Lost Link classic cut. The beat is intense matching the polar opposite intesity of the dynamic duo's deadly verses.

Rare Artist Series: DJ Quik - Ghetto Rendezvous
What a breath of fresh air in a rather stale environment for the Heavyweights of Hip Hop. "Book of David" is definitely one of my favorite or if not THE FAVORITE album of 2011 for me. This is the first cut that got heavy rotation in my IPOD playlist and eventually on vinyl when I purchased it a couple weeks ago.

Rare Artist Series: Jabrjaw & DJ Dee Dubbs - Songs Like These
Some good old hip hop straight out of Florida. Definitely a breath of fresh air in the otherwise stale environment of hip hop music these days. Peep and support.

Rare Artist Series: Vakill - Armorgeddon
Finally Vakill came back with an album in 2011 and he did not disappoint which can be attested to here with this track off his "Armor of God" album:

Spontaneous Combustion (2011 Analog Remix)
Mysterio chopped up some fine jazz samples and inserted an introduction by Mick to kick off this remix of the class combo cut created by Anoir and Aya. Sound effects still in "effcect" to accentuate their highly flammable verses.

Rare Artist Series: MF Grimm - Do it For The Kids
MF Grimm whipped up an excellent graphic novel which I highly recommend. It documents his whole life up until the day it was made. However, here is one of the many songs I like a lot but GM/MF Grimm. Solid material.

Rare Artist Series: Sadat X - Remember That
It used to irk me that Sadat would not "rhyme" on records but as time went on I realized that was just his style. He is one artist from the "Golden Age" that has been consistent in dropping great verses over dope production. Here is a newer song that is proof of that...

Rare Artist Series: Common Market - 40 Thieves
Just like their counterparts Blue Scholars (well Sabizi, the producer of both groups) Common Market has stepped up and delivered some solid hip hop music. While the political commentary can seem archaic at times most of it still rings true but the production on most of their albums is something to marvel at. Point in case...

Rare Artist Series: Scarface - Emeritus
Scarface has to be one of my favorite rappers from back in the day. He maybe not reach the upper echelons of emcees I rank in terms of skill, voice and composition but he has always been consistent as in which this song he indicates:

Real Shit (Live @ the PUB 1995)
Some real shit dropped by Claw back in 95 before the "Real Shit" slang even hit.

Rare Artist Series: 7L & Esoteric - Mic Mastery
Back in the day I thought Esoteric could not be stopped but as the years passed on he delved into some really wack experimental shit. The whole Boston scene, at the point this song dropped, was a beast and completely folded a few years later. Where is Lif? Where is Akrobatik? Anyhow - the beat and cuts by 7L coupled with the sharp verses by Esoteric make this song a masterpiece in my humble opinion.

Rare Artist Series: J-Live - Travelling
I love the beat and the lyrics to this song so much I will play it over and over when it comes up on his second album. Such a solid conceptually fueled song. J-Live is a teacher and a master of the microphone. Supreme.
