Wasssup Beeeeeeatch?

This straight up pimp ass, gangsta, hustla came up into the U.N.I. Sounds lab one day and dropped this ridiculous shit. Over a wacky recreation of "Keep Rising to the Top", by his DJ Skrilla, this fool spit some silly ass lyrics. Enjoy and remember it is okay to laugh :0)

Gotcha Open

The beat was originally created with a sampling mixer and 8-Track but this version was eventually transferred to the ASR-10. Mysterio came with some abstract musical bits chopped up over some dusty drums. Anoir and Analytical teamed up and dropped some dope verses most likely while sipping on some Carlos Rossi wine.

NOTABLE QUOTES:
"Crack addictive like fissures in the fixture/ Coming to earth with mad critters/ And litters of literates - poetic activists/ You missed when you thought your song was going to go to the top of the list" - Analytical

"More sight than an eagle or Bugsy Seagle/ But you can catch me down at the Regal Beagle/ Sipping mixed drinks/ But agile like a linx/ So I end your hijinx/ As soon as your eye blinks" - Anoir Akbar

Masterlock

Mysterio dug into some sci-fi records to create a gritty backdrop for Aya and Infinite to shine on. Strings simmer over a dusty drum kit as a moog bass comes in and out with horns building up the tension complimenting their fierce verses.

NOTABLE QUOTES:
"Concerned with the past, present and future/ While your mind's stuck on who's gonna shoot ya/ Or who you gonna overthrow to get what you desire/ Telling me it's all good but you a Liar Liar" - Anoir

"The Dark Apostle/ I taught Plato and Aristotle/ As I move through the realms of time and space at full throttle/ I hit the bottle - sometimes but never stumble/ I just sit back and relax as I watch these cities crumble" - Aya

Close Your Doors

Another Lamada SP-1200 & Akai gem with samples lifted from obscure records in dusty crates. E.N.S. crafted this song when he was working with Jason Vorhees when they were doing shows at End of the Weak in NYC. A sure shot head nodder that perfectly fit E's flows.

NOTABLE QUOTES:
"... the verbal arsonist/ I'm launching shit/ The Clack Clack/ Get your wig pushed back/ Without the use of a gat/ These lyrical tactics/ I rip that ass in half" - E.N.S.

Real Emcees

This was dropped around the time emcees were talking about "keeping it real", "shit is real", etc. Chris Rock exposed these types for what they were when he said "Yeah, you're keeping it real - real dumb!". Every line that Claw dropped on this track is a gem.

NOTABLE QUOTES:
"You talk a stack about getting paid/ Busting shots/ But scared to death about stepping in the weed spot"

"I know you talk about the hardcore/ But if you was hardcore - why you got them guards and the guard dogs?"

"The rocks on your hands ain't really worth shit/ Somebody should of told you that we die butt naked"

Of Cise and Men

Vibes and stuff. Wah wah guitars. Deep bass. Riding drums. The intro to the demo album by Cise. One of the many projects that never saw full fruition but still a demo is better than nada.

NOTABLE QUOTES:
"... bike riding to a beat on the radio/ Mixing the city and country flow/ But when the dough rolls in city and country grammar comes together, yo/ It's a shame that these cats don't hear me though/ Niggas listen when the beat causes the heat to blow" - Cise

Buggin From the Boogie

I stumbled across this today at the end of one of the many 8-track tapes Mysterio kept in the archives. Here you will find Claw and E.N.S. bugging out in what sounds like a bathroom. Hilarious and fun stuff.

Trials & Tribulations

The song begins with a sample from HEAT and ends with a sample from Way of The Gun over a chopped up track created by Mysterio. This one allowed Anoir to get introspective in regards to his own life and dabbled in existentialism.

NOTABLE QUOTES:
"Observe the world around me/ Always will astound me/ Dig into my memories/ When I first found the/ Truth like a sleuth/ More wisdom than a tooth/ Guided me past my youth better than a 100 proof/ I drained through my veins/ Swerving out of lanes/ Thank God my brains never hit the window panes" - Anoir Akbar

Suckas

One of the great posse cuts from the 1994 - 1995 era of Universal Sounds. The Muppets bass line is in the background buried under several smooth samples from the time when soul music actually had soul. Mysterio credits MJB's great record collection which they both dug thru to create several tracks back in the day including this one.

NOTABLE QUOTES:
"No love for the backstabbers - the two faces - the egomaniacs who make tracks/ With aspirations of being on wax" - J.O.B.

"And please I'm hot - not a faker or a taker/ I send those not menthos but I'm the fresh maker" - MJB

"The Dragon slayer walking on the edge of sanity/ And when I reach your town that's a sure fire calamity" - Mayhem

"But the beasts be after me with feathers and tar/ So catch me chilling with Max where the Wild Things Are/ Ayo - suckas be aware of my Raw" - Spee*D

"Suckas they try to step up they get pounded/ They bring the beef so like beef they're grounded" - Claw

"Move swift the gift that's bound to uplift/ My raps stick in your mouth like a spoonful of JIF" - Moosie Moe

Cerebral Cortex

The BBC narrative of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy roll out this mellow track produced by Lamada. SP1200 drums snap over a very melodic groove filled with 70's style electric bass and light piano. Anoir Akbar comes drop some very fluid verses that fit perfectly over the beat like hand in glove.

NOTABLE QUOTES:
"Your bullets melt in the palm of the master/ Listen for the calm before the disaster" - Anoir Akbar

"Lyrically I'm the epitome of emcee agility/ You ain't feeling me I kill emcees with the ability/ To pound you - surround you with equivalent of force/ Fields - use shields to throw you off course" - Anoir Akbar

Dead Boy

In 1994 E.N.S. created this conceptual song that still remains one of my personal favorites. The laid back track, reggae tinged chorus let the lyrics about Karma stand out.

NOTABLE QUOTES:
"When I was taking in minor figures/ You thought that you were bigger/ Because I rode the bus while you drove a Vigor/ An Acura you were spectacular/ To the kids around the hood - up to no good" - E.N.S.

Protect Yaself

One of the few times Moosie Moe got behind the boards for this jam about AIDS Awareness. A very simple drum beat, bass with sparse horns and chimes let the emcees drop some knowledge about protecting your Jimbrowski.

NOTABLE QUOTES:
"Cause soon you'll be shaking and baking and making without protection/ Uh-oh, I think you made the wrong connection" - DJ Cream

"Like wine you take a couple of sips/ Perception is flipped/ But then you trip and dip and slip" - Big Vic

"The epidemic at hand will blow you away like a fan/ To a grain of sand" - Ralphie

"I have fun when I use protection/ You say it don't feel the same/ I know it don't feel the same/ But I feel ashamed and in pain if I refrain" - Claw

You Know Nothing About Being A Gangsta

E.N.S. crafted this head nodder and had the Claw from the L.E.S. and the boys from Baychester drop some lyrical bombs on it. This was back in 1995 when Universal Sounds opened its doors to work with various emcees throughout the Tri-State area.

NOTABLE QUOTES:
"Genghis Khan blows up like a bomb/ Shit gets tragic just like in Vietnam/ Ghetto rustlers/ Demons from under the street/ Black motherfuckers thats on the creep" - Genghis Khan

"I keep my head up/ Cause I gotta to survive/ No time for sipping on forties or puffing on la/ Got to stay on point cause sharpness can prolong life..." - E.N.S.

"Why do motherfuckers just be acting like they packing?/ Talking and talking but they can't walking the walk and..." - Claw

Da U.N.I. Saga Live

This version of the classic Universal Sounds standard was taken from Quad Jam 1997. The beat by Claw pounds away as the four emcees deliver a lyrical assault.

NOTABLE QUOTES:
"Deliverer of many styles/ Mic controller of many crowds/ Come soon to your town now" -E.N.S.

"Evolving in an age where many stand idle/ U-N-I transform with more power than a tidal/ Wave..." - Anoir

"... so feel the blast of this backdraft/ Perfect my craft/ I heard your shit and laughed" - Aya Da Storm

"Remembering the times and life of crimes/ Now I found ways to fight emcees with my rhymes" - Claw
