Manchild Meditation

MJB delivered an homage to his friends from his youth as well as dropping some clever rhymes over this Mysterio production. Moog bass snaps gently as warm keys and flutes come in out over a subtle wah-wah guitar. J.O.B.'s snacking gets a nod on this song just as on many songs from this period.

NOTABLE QUOTES:
"I wanted to join the X-Men so I tried/ But my application came back with the stamp overqualified" - MJB

"So beam me up Scotty, I can't find intelligent life/ Just idiots being trife disregarding human life"

"Watch my style when I do it, fluid all the way to Munich/ Get an emcee more frustrated than a nymphomaniac eunich"

Caught On Tape

Fat Cat

Funny little track with Cise talking to one of his girls on the phone over a smooth Mysterio track. Just some spontaneous shite.

F*cking Up Da West Coast

DJ Meathooks crafted these two loc'd out tracks for those wacky gangsta rappers Automatic and Static. An ode to their idol Dr. Dre with his hook sunk into the two tracks "Like Luther Vandross I'm fucking up the West Coast".

There were never photographs taken of the two emcees but then again they concealed their identities at great extent. Heads covered in black hoodies with dark sunglasses and black jeans they came into the studio twice and then were never seen again.

Some say they were on the run eating, others say they caught some bodies and heading south of the border. Who knows. Anyhow they left these two songs in their wake.

NOTABLE QUOTES:
"I gets tired of busting caps at the cops/ So I unload on my moms and my pops" - Automatic

"I was born a straight gangsta - a fucking G/ And everywhere I go the honey's they be fucking me" - Static

"Roll to the studio and drop verses/ After I'm done I'm out to snatch purses/ Then I jet back to the crib to think of what I did/ But I don't give a shit" - Automatic

Torture (Live in 1995)

This is the live version of the classic song created by E.N.S., J.O.B. and Claw with T-Booth, and Mayhem delivering back ups and Mysterio on the cuts. The bass was so deep it almost felt like the speakers would blow out at the time. More detail will be given on the studio track but the live version speaks for itself.

Crystal Links

Fury

You might call him Kwotetradamous. All the lyrics in this song are poignant and extremely relevant to the days and times we are living in. Will all end in 2012? I doubt it but I remember something Fred Dogs told me years ago "It's like you are on a beach and throwing a firework out at the ocean and a wave comes in and smashes you to bits - a little payback from Mother Earth".

I won't go into a tangent on the constant abuse we put onto this planet so I will let the music speak for me.

Mysterio and Claw came up with this track. Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy from the BBC radio series makes another apperance on a Universal Sounds song. The horns and vibes are menacing setting the tone for the conceptual song. Sound effects from the Mysterio archives enhance the lyrics as Cise does with his background vocals.

NOTABLE QUOTES:
"Claiming lives by the thousands/ No one is safe/ Cyclone movers/ Marina drowns boat consumers/ Titantic capture/ And decomposed by natural disasters/ No laughter/ As you stand in amazement/ Witness the disaster/ The earth has consumed more lives than it has created/ War and peace/ Death and Birth/ Observe" - Kwote

Hip Hop Soul

The emcee known as Pulsar came in quickly and left the Universal Sounds clique but left this little diamond in the rough. A crunchy circuit filled Lamada track lays the foundation for some clever rhymes delivered by the emcee.

NOTABLE QUOTES:
"From prologue to epilogue flow's are impeccable/ Check the catalog - we're the upmost respectable" - Pulsar

"Not conceited or weeded I write rhymes when I'm sober/ On your girlies back while she's bending over" - Pulsar

Dream

The funk seeps through the speakers on this Claw Dog production. Muirdah Dawg came in the stiznudio to deliver the intro for Cise who let's loose with his one of kind style.

NOTABLE QUOTES:
"First in the brain is thrown on page/ Rap sage/ Paragraph/ Powerbomb niggas off stage" - Cise

Jet Li from the movie "Fist of Legend" explains the style and technique to be delivered flawlessly by Kwoteface, Cisekwon, The MZA and IDB over a CLZA track. The knowledge and jewels are dropped with the science that only the U could bring over this 2001 collabo.

NOTABLE QUOTES:
"Broccoli, colored jeans, cherry flavored Snapple/ Avocados make women horny/ Shorty you bore me" - Kwoteface

"Boston Celtic, fuck around get your ass kicked/ By this Larry Bird nigga, fly high, massage bitches with my dick" - Cisekwon

"The floor thrust with the style that we bust/ All shining emcees turn quick to rust" - MZA

Magic Bullets

A choppy little track Mysterio crafted. I guess this could be consider a demo for "Notorious Henchman/Seismic Tremors" as verses spit by the emcees showed up on those songs. I hear Analytical coming in before it cuts off... maybe that full version can be found one of these days.

NOTABLE QUOTES:
"I blast through speakers with equivalent force/ Of tornados or NATO's bombs off course/ Reveal the source until my throat's hoarse/ Till all the infidels get split like divorce" - Anoir Akbar

"I make it happen in a flash/ Expose your rhymes as trash/ You whiplash from the blast like a car crash" - Aya Da Storm

Reflections

In the vein of "12 Jewels" and "Sunshower" by RZA comes this song crafted by Anoir Akbar and Analytical over a Jake Lamada track. Mysterio comes in to add a little bit here and there just as well as sampling Lamada's live flute to compliment the track. Both emcees come in dropping some knowledge, wisdom and understanding.

NOTABLE QUOTES:
"Our souls were immersed in glory the day we were born/ Well versed in the story of a rose and a thorn/ Our minds travelled well before NASA did into space/ And the saga unraveled to where we saw the face/ The reflections - our mind were expanding/ With a being that's well beyond our understanding/ Our spirits are granted the power of divinity/ From the era of forever to the era of infinity" - Chorus by Anoir & Analytical

Can't Get With Me

Spellman Studio 283 is where many projects came to fruition with the infamous Bungles ball being kicked around. Shit talking was the order of the day as was the case many times on tracks recorded in that period. All of the emcees and guests can be heard popping some yang as Mayhem comes in with his verse.

NOTABLE QUOTES:
"Emcees can never match me when I'm already on fire/ I leave the mic in flames like my name is Richard Pryor" - Mayhem

"Sucka mc's need to quit/ Throw the mics down and throw up your fist/ I can't hear your bullshit - your garbage rhetoric..." - T-Booth

"Max in the castle like Conan chilling with my girl Red Sonja/ If you can't bare it - Moose will sic his ferret on ya" - MJB

Streetlife

This is not "Postin' High" by Masta Ace but it does contain the same sample from the same record by The Crusaders. However, lyrically I think this song is leaps and bounds beyond what Ace laid down in 1990. Claw's lyrics paint an incredible picture reflecting his years growing up in the Lower East Side of Manhattan.

NOTABLE QUOTES:
"And fiends throw away their lives for tokes/ Up in smoke/ And thirteen year olds are selling dope" - Claw

"There's no escape - kid you gotta play your cards/ And every night you cry to God in the stars/ The shit is hard and you gotta hide your tears/ You gotta hide your fears/ You gotta keep it locked from your peers"

Wazzzup (Menace Remix)

This is the instrumental Menace did for the remix of Muirdah Dawg's classic "Wazzzup". Vocals may be attached to it at a later date but the Claw Mix will be posted up soon enough.

Lick 'Em

A non-used Bob James sample covers this track with little bits and pieces Mysterio dug from the crates. With the Digable Planets hook the three emcees come with some raw verses recorded in 1994.

NOTABLE QUOTES:
"I pic you like a head of hair/ Smitties beware/ of the hypnotic Afro-Cuban stare" - T-Booth

"My feet's my transpo/ I don't need a six-four in my video/ Stabbing backstabbers in the front" - D-Train

"Beg for forgiveness but I ain't hearing that/ Just ask your girl what the fuck she be staring at" - Moosie Moe

Tabasco

This is the second version of the classic song that MJB started back in 1993. Mysterio took a jazzy bass line lifted from a dusty Miles record and then he sprinkled horns of the day which bounce in and out over the light hearted, uptempo track. J.O.B. can be heard in the background adding some back up vocals complimenting the two emcees wild rhymes.

NOTABLE QUOTES:
"You lose if you cruise cause I bruise/ And leave you confused like a Pollock with dreadlocks" - MJB

"Complain to your mom that your mind's not equipped/ To comprehend - the scripts that I rip" - Moosie Moe

"Own the skulls of my competitors like the Predator did/ One man ran and hid but I still slammed the kid" - MJB

"... to my conscience I make the bomb hits/ I'll take your bitch and I'll suck her tits" - Moosie Moe
