Rare Artist Series: Spring - Chuck It Up

This is a very mellow acoustic track from France that I simply can never get enough of.  It is light hearted "pop" without any of the usual bullshit that comes along with it most of the time.  The group, Spring, disbanded over a decade ago but this song will always resonate with me and now maybe you...

Rare Artist Series: John Robinson & Lewis Parker - International Summers

I bought this album on vinyl and it came with a good old cassette tape containing all the instrumentals.  You should too.  John Robinson has really been coming correct with his match ups.  First with J. Rawls and now with Lewis Parker.  This combination is not what I had expected at all.  Honestly, I hadn't heard or really looked for anything by Lewis Parker for over a decade but this right here is just a perfect album to listen to while chilling out in the crib doing some cooking or cleaning.

John Robinson & Lewis Parker - International Summers The Album

Dark Saga (Purple Mix)

Mysterio played around with some programmable synths on this jam digging on the sounds from the ASR-10. What resulted was an uptempo track with dark intentions laid forth for Anoir and Aya to spit some lyrical artillery on. Pianos, organs and strings glide along the head snapping drum kit with cuts thrown in by Mysterio from Inspectah Deck and Pharoahe Monch.

This is one of the Demo Versions from 2000.

Rare Artist Series: Kokane - Nickel Slick

This song by the artist Kokane was produced entirely by Above The Law and they must have learned a lot from Dr. Dre as this is one solid piece of work, in my opinion. This track in particular is some laid back west coast funk that I remember playing constantly back in the summer of 1991.

AAA

The lead song off the Time-Space Continuum album had the three emcees Anoir Akbar, Aya Da Storm and Analytical rip through a Mysterio production.  An intro from Magneto kicks off the proceedings with sound effects and cuts aceentuating the lyrics by the musical master.

NOTABLE QUOTES:
"I pity those who only have shitty flows/ Rubbing up on silly hoes in their videos" - Anoir

"Incredible with phrasing/ You're gazing at something amazing/ When I phasing on the stage and raising/ The U.N.I. banner..." - Aya

"Once again I step through the portal/ Ready to challenge all wack ass mortals" - Analytical

Rare Artist Series: Stark Reality - Dreams

Words can not explain this group. Pure perfection. 1970's funk-jazz fusion at its best. Once Stones Throw put me onto the group I bought up the entire collection. If you dig the music then you should buy too.

Rare Artist Series: Ice Cube - Be True to the Game (Video Version)

Another joint I grabbed off of a cassingle.  I actually like this version better than the album version but "Death Certificate" remains one of my favorite Ice Cube albums and one of my favorite albums in general. One of the first and last solid conceptual albums.

Rare Artist Series: American Gypsy - Central Station

This band is very rare indeed. Hard to even find anything about them on the world wide web. Nonetheless, I am here to share with you one single I think is pure dynamite off their 1975 album. Takes me back.

Spontaneous Combustion

This track is taken off the "Time-Space Continuum" album and features some tight verses by Anoir and Aya over a masterful Mysterio production. A sample taken from "The Last Emperor" is laid over a thumping drum track accentuated by a deep piano. Big Daddy Kane provides some back up as the sound provider Mysterio delivers cuts and sound effects.

NOTABLE QUOTES:
"The devil in me sends me into a frenzy/ So I torch the stage - burn the mic like some sensee" - Aya

"Emcees suck like lips on horny honey dips/ So cash in your chips and corny money clips" - Anoir

"Yo, I have to craft a rap to trap ya/ And then attach you to a wall and throw rhymes atcha" - Aya

"Style are stupendous - mind span tremendous/ So I must end this life of the horrendous" - Anoir

Rare Artist Series: Doom & Dilla - Sniper Elite

Now this is a track that separates the men from the boys. Originally an instrumental titled "Anti-American Graffitti" Doom took the track and flipped it in only a way he could. His lyrics are deeply textured just like the beat that Jay Dee created. I could listen to this over and over and yes I do listen to it over and over.

Peep and then BUY

Get Off The Dils (Remix)

Claw and Moosie Moe collabed with Mysterio on this track from the 1993 era of Universal Sounds. A fun little track where both emcees spit some silly ass rhymes.

Rare Artist Series: Big Daddy Kane & Kool G Rap - Raw

Big Daddy Kane and Kool G Rap actually collaborated on the classic track "Raw" back in the day and as of five years ago I hadn't heard it until Edan put me onto it.

Rare Artist Series: Wutang Vs The Beatles

Tom Caurana created this. Dopest remixing I have heard in years. Surpasses the "Gray Album" by leaps and bounds. He is definitely an artist to look out for.
