Rare Artist Series: Melodramatic - Eclipse

This group from Maryland released a very solid album back in the day but this song was from off a demo tape that they pushed around before polishing up this song.  I prefer this version and you may too.

Sizzlean (Remix 2011)

Just like a piece of sizzlean they wouldn't be around next year.  Actually it was six years later that the group would disband but this song would withstand the test of time.  Originally the lyrics were laid out over a J.O.B. production but about sixteen years later Mysterio decided to take his own spin on the classic cut.

The ending of the song is still complete with all the fellas bugging out in the studio and with J.O.B. fading the beat out.  Oh yeah, rumor has it that T-Booth still loves bacon.

7th Sign (Digital Remix 2011)

After a decade the lyrics delivered by these three emcees still stand the test of time.  It is kind of sad but also kind of poetic that the words they crafted still reflect the world we live in.  Mysterio stepped up two deliver two different takes on the song.  One has a more mellow vibe to it allowing the listener to concentrate on the lyrics while the other is more upbeat and intense feeding on the energy of those same fierce verses.  This is the "mellower" version of the two.

Rare Artist Series - Apathy - Wanna Snuggle?

For anyone who says they don't make quality hip hop anymore - they need look no further.  This cat has been delivering solid rhymes and concepts over sizzling hot production for a long time.  Call it a throwback.  Call it golden age.  Whatever.  I just call it good when I hear it.

Rare Artist Series: Boogie Down Productions - Hardcore Worldwide

2 Live Crew beat BDP about five months to claim the title of having the first LIVE rap album but there is no comparison.  This album by Boogie Down Productions still plays well and can give any "live" rap show a run for its money.

Where most rappers spend hours smoking blunts and trying to get in with the ladies KRS and his gang were throwing people off the stage and ripping up a live sound set.  Twenty years later and this album still bumps!

Rare Artist Series: Vakill - The Darkest Cloud

The track crafted by the Molemen is intense and the lyricism displayed by Vakill on this song makes him an emcees' emcee.  Rapid fire rhymes extremely intricate.  They don't make em like they used to.

Rap Pioneer

A bonus track from the "Time Space Continuum" album showcases Aya Da Storm's lyrical skills over a Mysterio production culling samples from a Universal Sound favorite James Bond's 007.

Rare Artist Series: Hard Knocks - School of Hard Knocks

If you are looking for this album on CD, much less vinyl, then you probably are out of luck.  Thus, you found this post and you know what it is all about.  Super solid album from a one time group released on that ill fated label Wild Pitch.  I threw a couple of the 12" remixes in the folder as well for you to enjoy.

Tabasco (2011)

Mysterio went back into the lab and updated this original song recorded back in 1993.   J.O.B. can be heard in the background adding some back up vocals complimenting the two emcees wild rhymes.

NOTABLE QUOTES:
"You lose if you cruise cause I bruise/ And leave you confused like a Pollock with dreadlocks" - MJB

"Complain to your mom that your mind's not equipped/ To comprehend - the scripts that I rip" - Moosie Moe

"Own the skulls of my competitors like the Predator did/ One man ran and hid but I still slammed the kid" - MJB

Beyond Da 10%

Moosie Moe crafted this cut with his cohort Mysterio back in 1994.  An ode to introspection.  He delves into the questions of what lies beyond the ten percent used in our brains.  Mysterio cuts up some spoken words by Richard Pryor over the sonic soundscape he served up.
